The damage is less dependent on a good set of claws than some other builds, which also helps in SSF play. I really enjoy it for solo play for that reason. Unlike the tiger strike build physical immunities present no problem. It does not struggle with any immunities because phoenix strike does heavy cold, lightning and fire damage. This build is very flexible and can kill anything in the game. A point in blade fury as an optional ranged attack, but it isn't as useful with this build as those that focus on physical damage and stack crushing blow etc. One point in dragon flight, every shadow skill and death sentry is suggested. I prefer utilizing Dragon Tail for fire damage over putting points into fists of fire, since we'll be using it constantly to release charges. I usually level the skills in this order: Phoenix, dragon tail, claws of thunder, claws of ice. From there we can work on maxing the synergies to phoenix strike, or pumping Dragon Tail. Used to be I'd max Phoenix and Dragon Tail, but post 1.10 we'll want to boost synergies too.Īs the name implies, this build focuses completely on elemental damage and disregards physical damage. 1.10 brought huge changes to this build with the synergies, and the latest patch changed how charges are released. I've successfully beaten the game on single player with variations of it many times over the years, as far back as version 1.09. This is a build I came up with on my own in the early 2000's. Here is my rift assassins skill distribution, made before the newest patch Here is the guide I followed for my Rift Assassin It's a pretty fun build overall if you find a gul rune like I did. The rift focused builds helps mitigate that by throwing out high damage cold spells that both kill and freeze large packs. Kicksins tend to excel at taking on single targets like a boss better than mobs. One interesting note with this build is tornado and firestorm proc with blade fury, but frozen orb does not. When I respec I plan to max venom instead of lightning sentry, and do something else with the shock web points. I maxed dragon talon, put a point in every shadow and blade skill, then maxed lightning sentry and death sentry and put left over points into shock web. Mine was built before the latest patch and it shows. Using a high level Dragon Talon we deliver a series of attacks in rapid succession, sending off multiple tornados and orbs repeatedly. We can boost the damage of these spells with items like facets and Nightwings helm. Rift has a 20% chance to cast level 16 tornado on striking, and a 16% chance to cast level 21 frozen orb. This is a build that focuses on the Rift runeword. This can be much higher with stronger gear, easily breaking 100k. Here is my skill distribution on my Tiger Strike / Dragon Tail Assassin Here's a good guide on Tiger Strike / Dragon Tail Assassins You want to focus on killing your first target fast then getting a death sentry corpse explosion chain going asap. While dragon tail does have a small AoE explosion similar to the Sorcs Fireball spell, this build struggles more against large mobs compared to the elementalist. This builds takes out single targets very fast, and can pack a serious punch with budget gear.ĭrawbacks of this build are not being great against large packs of enemies, and struggling with physical immunes. Blade Fury gives me a ranged option, max Venom boosts its damage, corpse explosion from Death Sentry, and a second useful companion. On mine I chose to max venom, put a point in every blade skill, a point in death sentry and level shadow master. After that you can play around with skill points however you'd like. You'll max tiger strike and dragon tail, get a few shadow skills for utility, and one point into death sentry. You only need about 50 skill points to complete the build, so with points past that you can experiment with different back-up skills. This is a great build for players new to assassins. To hopefully inspire others, here's four different Assassin builds for you to try out. Almost unheard of in my 6 months with D2R. Seeing an Assassin that isn't your standard trapper is extremely rare. Playing on bnet, seeing other Assassins is rare. Assassins are my favorite class in Diablo 2.
